An open window and a young child

Think about the open windows at home this time of year. A young child can get to one on their own.

• Stay with the child. Do not leave young children unattended.
• A mosquito screen does not prevent a child from falling.
• Install window safety locks or restrictors.
• Move furniture away from windows if a child could climb on it.
• Do not allow children to approach an open window on their own. Talk with them about what can happen.

A young child at an open window needs an adult in the room.
