11. How a Man and a Woman Lift Each Other
Growth
Growth means developing what is in you and using it for other people. The relationship stops being only about yourself. The clearest way to see it is in how a man and a woman lift each other.
What he gives
When he grows, he supports her. He has her best interests in mind. He finds out what she wants, what she is interested in, what moves her. He takes her out. A coffee. He asks questions. He wants to get to know her. He makes experiences with her. She can trust him. She can rely on him. He does it because he wants to, with care.
What she feels
Even while he is still courting her, before anything is promised, she begins to feel peace. Someone is paying attention. Someone has her in mind. She doesn't have to hold everything alone. Many women spend years looking for this, and few ever find it.
What she gives back
Her state doesn't stay with her. A woman extends her emotional state to everything in her sphere: her home, her people, the man beside her. If she is anxious, he cannot stay at peace, no matter how much he achieves. If she is at peace, if she is joyful, it fills the space around her and reaches him.
It works like the moon. The sun shines on the moon, and the moon turns that light into something softer that lights up the whole night. What he gives her, she returns, amplified, to him and to everything around them.
What he feels
For the man who grows and supports her this way, that light comes back to him. He feels capable. Alive. Like Zeus standing on the mountain, not because he rules over anyone, but because what he has built is working.
When she is at peace, and he is the one who made that possible, the two create something neither could alone: a home that feels light, a man who wants to keep growing, a woman who can finally rest.
That is why a man grows. Everything else is a short pleasure that leaves him worse.
Before your next date
For a man: When you're with a woman, do you notice how she feels around you? What's one thing you could do on your next date that would help her relax?
For a woman: Have you noticed how your mood changes the people around you? What helps you arrive at a date at peace, instead of on guard?
